Born in Czechoslovakia and raised in Russia, Kolya Neukoelln’s artistic journey began early. At age seven, she discovered a passion for piano and singing, later immersing herself in school and university theatre while simultaneously earning a master’s degree in engineering. By her mid-thirties, she fully committed to the performing arts, joining PoemaTheatre in 2013 to explore butoh dance and video art.

Kolya’s formal training culminated in 2016 at the Moscow School of New Cinema. Since then, she has brought to life approximately 25 characters and leading roles across short films, feature films, video art, and music videos, building an international career. Her versatility extends to the stage, where she performs with renowned companies such as Impresario and the Meyerhold Centre.

Beyond acting, Kolya works as a director and choreographer, crafting site-specific and physical performances rooted in post-contemporary dance. Her creative vision is matched by a deep commitment to human rights and healthy living, using her platform to push boundaries both behind the camera and in everyday life. Through her multidisciplinary practice, she continues to inspire audiences worldwide, blending technical precision with raw, expressive artistry.
