The Rains Came (1939)
Rama Safti, an Indian nobleman newly trained as a doctor in America, comes home to dedicate himself to healing the impoverished citizens of Ranchipur. His mission is complicated by the arrival of Lady Edwina, whose scandalous affair with her inebriated former lover, artist Tom Ransome, stirs local gossip. But when a devastating earthquake strikes, followed by catastrophic floods and a deadly plague, personal dramas are cast aside as everyone must unite to survive the unfolding catastrophe.
