After his son is struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver, Charles Thenier vows to track down the culprit and take his life. Fate intervenes when he crosses paths with actress Helène Lanson, who was a passenger in the vehicle that fateful night. Through her, he encounters her brother-in-law, Paul Decourt—a genuinely despicable man whose presence complicates everything.
