She signed away the deed to her house as collateral for a friend's business loan, trusting the promises of a woman she'd known for years. But the friend vanished, leaving behind a trail of forged documents and empty bank accounts. The loan went unpaid, and the bank moved to foreclose. Her home, her sanctuary, was seized, sold at auction to cover the debt. She ended up in a cramped rental, stripped of everything, realizing the friend she'd defended was a serial con artist who had preyed on her loyalty from the start.
