After a devastating fire takes the life of a firefighter, guilt and blame ripple through the team. Lt. Matthew Casey, who leads the Truck, struggles to cope and clashes with the outspoken Lt. Kelly Severide from the Rescue Squad, as both men hold each other responsible for their colleague’s death. The firehouse is home to Battalion Chief Wallace Boden, who faces significant personal challenges; paramedics Gabriela Dawson and Leslie Shay, whose strong partnership helps them navigate intense emergencies; Peter Mills, a new academy graduate following in his family’s firefighting legacy; and Christopher Herrmann, a seasoned firefighter now facing the upheaval of losing his home to foreclosure and moving in with his in-laws.
