S1E1 Arelate (Arles)

The opening episode takes us to Arles, historically known as the “little Rome of Gaul.” This city, referred to as Arelate in Latin, held a vital strategic location at the junction of Italy and Spain. In 46 BCE, Julius Caesar established a Roman colony here, honoring the city that backed him during his arduous battles. Over the years, Arles transformed, showcasing magnificent Roman architecture that reflected its growing importance.
