She learns that the striking blue color originates from sulphur atoms buried deep in the Earth’s crust and discovers that red ochre is a crucial indicator of life. Investigating gold, she finds out why this valuable metal is surprisingly rare on the planet's surface, and in her exploration of white, she heads to one of the hottest locations on Earth to examine how salt and water have shaped the planet.
