In a shocking discovery, the bodies of a mother and her small daughter are uncovered in the bathroom of their upscale residence. Newly appointed DS Charlie Zailer and her junior partner, DC Simon Waterhouse, dive into the investigation, but soon find themselves at odds over whether the incident is a murder-suicide or a more malevolent act. Meanwhile, Sally Thorne, a young mother, confides in her best friend about her affair with the deceased woman's husband, prompting her friend to caution her to keep her distance from the unfolding tragedy.
