Our Lady of the Turks (1968)

A tormented intellectual, consumed by a feverish obsession that borders on madness, is haunted by fragmented recollections of the Turkish massacre at Otranto. Driven by a subconscious urge to tear himself apart, he becomes entangled with one of the victims, only to be visited by Margherita, appearing as Santa Maria d’Otranto, who offers him tender compassion. Through a hallucinatory blend of memory and history, he reconnects with his surroundings, his homeland, and the legacy of his people.
